James Lombardi III,  Providence's Internal Auditor , has released a report which illustrates how poorly the city is run.  The report shows that the city's rainy day fund is down to $4.6 million, rather than the recommended $30 million, and the city failed to make $24.7 million in payments to the pension fund. 

     What was David Cicilline's reaction to the report?  Denials.  He claims the payments are being made according to the usual schedule.  Of course, James Lombardi has only been the Internal Auditor for 11 years.  What does he know about Providence's finances?  By the way, David Cicilline also claims the report is politically motivated. 

     The fact that he would deny the findings of the report and chalk it up to being "political" shouldn't come as a surprise.  After all, this is the same guy who claims he didn't know he was being paid too much, and didn't know anything about his brother's bad check.  Plus, poor financial management seems to be characteristic of his tenure.  Don't forget, this is the same person who essentially mortgaged decorative streetlights and fire stations to fill a hole in the budget.  Lombardi's report shouldn't surprise anyone.
