House votes to conceal criminal records

The House of Representatives voted 65-7 to seal the criminal records of individuals who received a deferred sentence.  The records could be sealed for any crime as long as the sentence was deferred, and there were no other problems with the law.  Supporters point out that the change will allow those who have committed crimes to more easily find jobs and apartments.  That's exactly what I'm afraid of.

With the records sealed, child molesters could work in daycare centers, embezzlers could become book keepers, and burglars could rent the apartment upstairs.  With the law changed, who would know?  Aren't you proud of your General Assembly?
