Joanne Giannini and Prostitution: She removes all doubt
“Why should Rhode Island have this dubious distinction?” Rep. Joanne M. Giannini, D-Providence, who introduced the bill, said after the vote. “Rape behind closed doors, is that permissible? Is murder permissible if it’s done behind closed doors?”
When I read Joanne Giannini's comment in today's Providence Journal, a well-known quote came to mind: "It is better to be silent and thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt." Today, on the front page of the paper and before the entire state of Rhode Island, Joanne Giannini removed all doubt that she is a fool.
As you can see, Ms. Giannini thinks murder and rape can some how be equated with prostitution. I'm not sure how you can compare two extremely violent crimes with an act that occurs between two consenting adults, but Ms. Giannini appears to see no difference. This should be obvious to anyone who has an IQ that is close to approaching average. Now we know where Ms. Giannini falls on the bell curve.
I would like to reiterate a point I have mentioned frequently over the past few months: Passing this bill will not stop prostitution! If you don't believe me, ask the police in the other 48 states. All this law will do is reduce prostitution indoors, and an increase it outdoors. Get ready for the increase in streetwalkers, and don't forget to thank Joanne Giannini when she runs for reelection.
