House Judiciary Committee to Vote on the "Encouraging Outdoor Prostitution" Bill

The House Judiciary Committee is set to vote on a bill that would ban indoor prostitution.  I hope I'm wrong, but I have a feeling the bill might pass.  Although, I do have hope that clear minds will eventually prevail.  As I've written before, this law is not about ending human trafficking, or brothels.  If it were, there could easily be a law which would ban establishments offering indoor prostitution.  Wouldn't that effectively shut down the brothels, while keeping indoor prostitution legal?

This law is about regulating sex between consenting adults occurring behind closed doors.  It is about blindly following other states without taking a moment to consider if we might actually be the ones to have it right.  After all, prostitution is illegal in every state (besides 2 counties in Nevada), yet they all still have prostitution.  What did the laws prevent?  Nothing.  All it did was cause embarassment for consenting adults, raise revenue for the government (through fines), and waste police resources.

Ask yourself this question: Does allowing indoor prostitution affect your life at all?  It hasn't made any difference in my life.  Although, I suspect it has improved many neighborhoods my moving prostitution from street corners to areas behind closed doors.  If this bill passes, it should be renamed the "Encouraging Outdoor Prostitution" bill, since that's about the only thing it will accomplish.
