Swine Flu Might Be in Rhode Island? When Will the Federal Government Act?

A student at North Kingstown High School who recently traveled to Mexico has been tested for the Swine Flu.  The results were sent to the CDC and should be available within 48  hours.  Fortunately, Rhode Island seems to be well-prepared.  North Kingstown High School has been closed the remainder of the week as a precaution, all activities were canceled, and notices were sent to families.

It's too bad the federal response isn't as strong.  The World Health Organization raised its threat level to 5 on a scale of 1 to 6, which means a pandemic is imminent.  Some countries also want to stop flights to Mexico.  How about the United States?  If it were up to me, I would have closed the border a few days ago and stopped all flights until the illness was under control.  By failing to do so, the government is increasing the likelihood of more cases of Swine Flu, and more deaths.
