Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse Like Jack McConnell...and His Campaign Contributions
According to the Providence Journal, lawyer Jack McConnell, Jr, who is being suggested as a nominee to Rhode Island's Federal Court, has made substantial political contributions over the years. The journal reports that McConnell and his wife have contributed almost $700,000 over the years. Most troubling is this fact:
They have given tens of thousands of dollars, all told, to the campaigns of Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse, the Rhode Island Democrats who suggested his nomination to the new president, and of Mr. Obama himself, and other leading candidates for the presidency.
So, Jack McConnell and his wife made substantial campaign contributions to the two U.S. Senators who decided to suggest his nomination. Is this legal? Definitely. Should it leave a sick feeling in the pit of your stomach? Definitely.
