Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty Has a Novel Idea
I know it's early, but every once in a while I think about the 2012 election. I shouldn't, but when I see what's happening in the country, it makes me yearn for better days. So far, there are two possible candidates who have caught my attention: South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford and Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty. In this week's weekly Republican address, Pawlenty had this to say:
"Here's a novel idea for the federal government: instead of collecting more taxes and then redistributing them through more federal programs, why don't you just let us keep more of our money in the first place?" Pawlenty asked. "The federal government should keep a lid on taxes, control government spending, and borrow less - rather than increase the size and scope of the federal government so much that Washington is guaranteeing future tax increases."
Lower taxes? No redistribution of wealth? Fewer federal programs? Smaller government? That is a novel idea!
