Keep An Eye on North Korea

North Korea is planning on launching a rocket.  The launch is supposedly being done to launch a satellite, but it is being treated as an experiment to test their weapons capabilities.  Once launched, the rocket will pass over Japan and could drop debris on the country, and it could also be capable of reaching Hawaii.  North Korea is adamant about going through with the launch and has threatened action against both Japan and the United States if either interferes with the launch.

North Korea should not be allowed to violate Japan's air space, while attempting to intimidate them.  North Korea tried a similar launch in 2006, which was a failure.  What if this rocket malfunctions in Japanese air space?  Think of the casualties.  North Korea's threats should be ignored and the rocket should be intercepted before it is able to threated Japan.  Although, I doubt this will happen.  Just look at this excerpt:

Defense Secretary Robert Gates said during a weekend TV interview that the U.S. had no plans to intercept the rocket — though it might consider the move if an "aberrant missile" were headed to Hawaii "or something like that."

It looks like North Korea will go ahead with their launch and the rest of the world will sit back and let it happen.
