Robert Ceprano Seeks $10 Million For Wrongful Termination

It looks like David Cicilline may be costing Providence taxpayers even more money.  Just to recap: The tax bill owed by John Cicilline's client is now over $100,000 with penalties, we have Dave's friends/campaign contributors who received help on their tax bills from the Mayor and his administration, and the cost of the outside audit to pay for an investigation of the bad check John Cicilline gave to the city.  Now we have one more expense we can add: A wrongful termination suit.

Former Tax Collector Robert Ceprano is filing a $10 million suit against the City of Providence for wrongful termination.  I don't have any formal legal training, but it looks to me like he has a solid case.  David Cicilline claims Ceprano was doing a terrible job, but he has been in the same position for nearly 7 years, and for 6 of those years, Cicilline was mayor.  We've also heard that Ceprano was allegedly told about his poor performance.  Here's my question:  Were there any formal performance reviews, and if so, does the city have a written record of these reviews?  It's awfully coincidental that Robert Ceprano was terminated after the bad check came to light.  This alone would hurt the City's case, but I would think that a lack of documentation about his performance would be highly damaging.

I could be wrong, but I think David Cicilline has just cost Providence taxpayers more money, and Robert Ceprano will be a millionaire in the near future
