Will the Stimulus be a Success? It Will Be Labeled One!

I don't think the economic stimulus will work.  It's loaded with a lot of spending that is unnecessary and highly questionable.  With that said, it will almost definitely be labeled a success.  How do I know?  I just took a look around me and saw all the Democrats wearing their brand new rose colored glasses.

Over the long-term, the economy tends to have its ups and downs.  The economy is obviously "down" substantially more than it has been in quite some time, but there is no denying that our economic  growth does not form a straight line when plotted on a chart.  With that said, any improvement we do experience could be due to factors completely unrelated to the stimulus.  Of course, this would never be admitted.  The Democrats would immediately paint themselves as the heroes of the country.

This is to be expected, but what if there is no improvement?  Well, in this scenario, the Democrats are still the heroes of the country, at least in their eyes.  All you need to do is read this quote to understand why:

The success of the stimulus package may be measured less by visible achievements than by what does not happen — the home that is not foreclosed, the family that doesn't slip into poverty, the disease that does not go undiagnosed.

"The one thing we'll never know is what would have happened if we didn't do it," said Nigel Gault, chief U.S. economist for IHS Global Insight.

So, even if the stimulus appears to have no noticeable effect on the economy, it was still valuable because it may have prevented some foreclosures, it may have prevented families from slipping into poverty, and it may have prevented diseases from being diagnosed.  Wow.  What would we do without those Democrats.  Of course, even if things do get worse, they will still find a way to say it would have been even worse without their $800 billion boondoggle.  Welcome to a government controlled by the Democrats.
