East Providence Teachers Look For Support: Good Luck!

A group of East Providence teachers blanketed the city with fliers explaining their position in the current labor dispute.  They're hoping to gain support for their cause.  Good luck!  I haven't seen the fliers, but I don't think it will do much good.  Sure they will have to pay 20% of their health insurance and take a 5% pay cut, but at least they have a job.  In the last few months, how many people have lost their job, have little job security, and no health insurance?  I find it hard to believe that East Providence residents are lining up to support a group that is complaining about paying just 20% toward their health insurance.

Workers in nearly every sector have been making sacrifices.  Besides job losses, many employers have eliminated retirement contributions, cut hours, and increased contributions for health insurance, among other changes.  This is the reality of the situation: Make sacrifices or find another job.
