Potential Democratic candidates for governor are raising lots of money.  According to the latest filings, Elizabeth Roberts has $254,780, Patrick Lynch has $391,647, David Cicilline has $684,570, and Frank Caprio has $1,001,061.  Unfortunately, the Republican candidates don't seem to be putting much effort into raising money.  Former Cranston Mayor Stephen Laffey has just $97,673, while representative Joe Trillo has only $60,053.

     The election is more than 21 months away, there are no declared candidates, and the Democrats will almost certainly have a highly competitive primary which will deplete their funds.  With that said, what are the Republican candidates waiting for?  Rhode Island is a heavily Democratic state, and Republicans need every advantage they can get.
