Stimulus Bill May Have Problems Gaining Approval in the Senate
According to some reports, passage of the President's economic stimulus bill is far from a done deal in the Senate. Republican senators are criticizing their lack of input, excessive spending, too few tax cuts, lack of immediate spending/tax cuts, and spending projects that won't do much for job creation.
One of the strongest criticisms of the stimulus bill, and one often ignored, relates to the tax cuts. Democrats seem to feel the amount is adequate, while Republicans want more. As Senator John Kyl has pointed out, the $500 tax rebate will be going to many who didn't pay the tax. If you don't pay taxes, then how can you have your taxes cut?
