George W. Bush: Thank You

When you are evaluating someone's job performance, it's fairly common to compare their performance to people who have a similar position, or those who have done the job before.  This is especially true when evaluating a President.  For the most part, there are many things that aren't going well right now, and we have seen comparisons to former Presidents, and we have heard arguments from those trying to replace President Bush that things should have been done differently.  Perhaps this is true in some cases.  You could point to some decisions and make arguments for and against a certain decision, but doing so causes us to lose sight of the big picture.

If you listen to the liberal media only, you would think George W. Bush is a bumbling fool.  I'll admit that there are many issues I have disagreed with him on, but on the biggest issue facing us, he has performed incredibly well.  That issue is national security.  After 9/11, the United States was jolted by an attack that most of us couldn't have imagined ever happening.  The country was in turmoil, and from that day on, the Bush Presidency was defined by 9/11 and keeping the country safe.  George Bush's critics have complained about Guantanamo Bay, water boarding, the Patriot Act, and his foreign policy, but they are silent on the big issue.

As George W. Bush's Presidency ticks down to its final hours, we owe him a thank you for making the tough decisions to keep the country safe.  In the end, that is the biggest issue, and it was handled perfectly.
