Hillary Clinton as the Secretary of State: Yes or No?
Barack Obama met with Hillary Clinton last week in Chicago, and there are rumors that they discussed Clinton becoming the next Secretary of State. Since then, there have been articles suggesting she was offered the position and would accept it, others that said she isn't interested, and others that say everything is still up in the air. All I know is that the only people who know for sure are Clinton, Obama, and those that are close to them.
Being appointed Secretary of State is an opportunity that most people would be foolish to pass up, but then again, most people don't have some of Hillary Clinton's options. As Secretary of State, under the best circumstances, you get to serve 4 years for one term or 8 years if Obama wins a second term. As Senator, she has an excellent chance to maintain her seat for years and also has the ability to work on a wider range of topics, including domestic issues. If I were in Hillary Clinton's position, I would stay in the Senate and add to my seniority and influence.
