A New View of the Electoral Map

Here's an interesting map for you to check out.  We are all familiar with the traditional electoral map which breaks the vote down by state, but this particular map breaks down the vote for the 2008 Presidential Election by county.  The vast majority of the map is red, while the blue is focused in the large population areas.  It basically confirms what most of us already knew: The Republican Party is stronger in the center, while the Democratic party is stronger along the coasts.  It also clearly illustrates the divide between urban and rural areas.
