Barack Obama's Aunt Is An Illegal Immigrant

The Associated Press is reporting that Barack Obama's aunt, Zeituni Onyango, is an illegal alien who received a deportation order 4 years ago, but has ignored it.  She had filed a request for asylum in 2004, but it was rejected.  Obama's aunt was discovered living in a public housing complex this past week.

This story is troubling on many levels.  First, Barack Obama never mentioned his aunt, although she was important enough to mention in his book.   This causes me to suspect that he was aware of her immigration status.  Second, his campaign received $260 in donations from Ms. Onyango, who is an illegal immigrant.  How many contributions has Barack Obama's campaign accepted from illegal immigrants and others who are not citizens of the United States?  That could help to explain how he raised more than $600 million.  It also calls into question his reluctance to voluntarily share a list of donors who contributed less than $200.  This isn't required by law, but his refusal makes you wonder how many of the small donations are questionable.

Ms. Zeituni was also living in public housing and working just a few hours a week.  Public housing is subsidized with our tax dollars.  We have someone living in the United States illegally who is benefiting from the taxes paid by its citizens.  Even more troubling is the possibility that citizens may have been refused an apartment that was occupied by Ms. Onyango and who knows how many other illegal aliens.

I am hoping there is a thorough investigation into both Barack Obama's campaign and the method of checking eligbility for public housing.  Having illegal immigrants receive benefits and services they are not entitled to is bad, but allowing them to fund presidential campaigns is beyond words.
