Barney Frank: Military Cuts and Tax Increases

Massachusetts Representative Barney Frank discussed the need for a stimulus package that will help to open up credit markets and give the economy a boost.  Frank also mentioned slashing military spending by 25% and mentioned that taxes will likely be increased in the future.  There's no doubt there is waste that can be cut from the military, but at first glance, 25% seems like a steep number.  With cuts of that size, you're not merely eliminating over-spending and inefficiencies, you're weakening our national defense.  Leaving Iraq is one way to account for these savings, but what about the rest?  Will the military be weakened, and will our national security be compromised?
