It turns out the Republican National Committe has spent $150,000 on clothing for Sarah Palin and her family.  As you can tell from the price, the clothing came from expensive stores such as Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue.  This is one reason I'm reluctant to donate money to certain politicians or political groups.  I'm sure that much of that money was donated by individuals who felt it would be used for advertising and other direct expenses for campaigns, and instead, it is going for clothing.  If I donated money to the RNC, I wouldn't be happy.

     Candidates should purchase their own clothing.  Unfortunately, if you look at campaign finance reports, you see lots of questionable items from both Democrats and Republicans.  With that said, there is one criticism I do disagree with.  Sarah Palin is being criticized because the expensive clothing is counter to her image as a regular "hockey mom".  Somehow, because she wears the clothes, she is now a fraud.  Think about this: The Palin family doesn't seem to be wealthy.  If she was a well-to-do snob, wouldn't she already have lots of fancy clothes?  Like I said, I don't agree with campaigns buying clothes, but I do believe she is who she presents herself to be.
